Three new studies find that the blood of young mice can have rejuvenating effects on the brains and muscles of elderly mice. Scientists from Harvard and Stanford University used blood from young mice to see how it would affect old mice.

Biologist Amy Wagers of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute used a synthetic version of a protein found in large quantities in young animal blood. She tells Here & Now's Robin Young that old mice injected with this protein showed an increase in muscle and brain function.
