A Look At Julián Castro's Rising Political Star

President Obama is naming 39-year-old San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro to be his next housing secretary. Obama also chose Castro to deliver the keynote address at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

Jorge Ramos of Univision and Fusion TV joined Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson to discuss Julián Castro, who is widely viewed as a possible running mate for potential 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

"What's so interesting is that within the Hispanic community, and you see it historically, most Latinos tend to vote for Democrats, not for Republicans," Ramos said. "But if you see what's going on in 2016, you have three Latinos in the Republican Party that might run for office, for the White House: Sen. Marco Rubio, Sen. Ted Cruz, Gov. Susannah Martinez. But on the Democratic side, they didn't have anyone. So obviously, Julián Castro is a great, great pick as a possibility. He's an incredibly intelligent man."

Ramos also discussed his recent confrontation with House Speaker John Boehner over immigration reform.

"They're trying to blame President Barack Obama, they're trying to blame Obamacare, but they are at fault," Ramos said of Republicans. "If Speaker Boehner wants to bring immigration reform to a vote, he can do it next Tuesday, but he simply doesn't want to do it."
