Obama Proposes Doubling Area Of Protected Ocean
ResumePresident Obama today announced plans to create the world's largest marine sanctuary in the Pacific Ocean, significantly expanding the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument, which was created by President George W. Bush in 2009.
The designation would make the area off limits to fishing and energy exploration, and would double the area of ocean that is fully protected worldwide.
