A hurricane watch covering nearly 200 miles along North Carolina's coast was issued early Wednesday, threatening Fourth of July plans as Tropical Storm Arthur moved northward from Florida.

Myles Henderson, meteorologist for WTKR TV in Hampton Roads, Virginia, and northeast North Carolina, gives Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson the latest forecast.

Forecasts show Arthur potentially skimming the Outer Banks, a string of narrow barrier islands prone to flooding but popular for beachgoers, on Friday as a hurricane.

Bob Eakes, owner of the Red Drum Tackle Shop in Buxton, North Carolina, on Cape Hatteras, describes how people are preparing in what he calls "the center of the dartboard" for this storm.

The Associated Press contributed reporting to this article.
