Two Hurricanes Bear Down On Hawaii

Two hurricanes are threatening Hawaii, as they churn across the Pacific Ocean. The first, Hurricane Iselle, is projected to arrive on the Big Island this evening. It will be the first hurricane to hit Hawaii directly in 22 years.

The second, Hurricane Julio, is expected to be downgraded to a tropical storm before it reaches Hawaii this weekend, and it might skew north, avoiding a direct hit.

Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie signed an emergency proclamation yesterday to activate the state's disaster fund in anticipation of damage from the storm. Meanwhile, concerned island occupants have been clearing stores out of essentials like bottled water, gasoline and baby products, to prepare for the arrival of the storm.

Weather Channel meteorologist Jim Cantore is in Hilo on the Big Island to cover the storm, and joins Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson with details.
