Protests Continue In Ferguson After Police Kill Unarmed Teen

Protests in Ferguson, Missouri, turned violent last night, with police using tear gas and smoke bombs to repel demonstrators. A police spokesman says that was a response to some protesters throwing Molotov cocktails and rocks at officers.

The protests were sparked by the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was shot by police on Saturday. The teen was not armed.

Here and Now's Robin Young speaks with Jelani Cobb, associate professor of history and director of the Africana Studies Institute at the University of Connecticut. He is in Missouri to participate in the protests.
