Support for Hamas has risen significantly among Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza in the immediate aftermath of the 50-day war with Israel, according to a new poll out this week.

The poll, conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in Ramallah, found that 61 percent of Palestinians would vote for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh for president if elections were held today, and that support for current President Mahmoud Abbas has dropped significantly, to just 32 percent. It also found that 79 percent of Palestinians believe Hamas won the war.

Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson talks to Khalil Shikaki, director of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in Ramallah, who conducted the poll.
