Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this morning defended his controversial visit to the U.S., saying it was not intended to show any disrespect to President Obama.

He was speaking at the AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) conference, in front of 16,000 supporters of Israel. Tomorrow, the Israeli prime minister will speak to a joint session of Congress. Some Democrats say they'll boycott.

NPR's Ron Elving joins Here & Now's Robin Young to discuss Netanyahu's trip and the week in politics, including the continuing fight to fund the Department of Homeland Security.

Congress managed to squeak out one more week of funding for DHS to avoid a shutdown and are now facing another Friday deadline.
