Rediscovering The Wonder Of Air Travel
ResumeRiding in an airplane has become a commonplace occurrence: every day, some 100,000 flights take off and land around the world. But a new National Geographic giant screen film seeks to reacquaint viewers with the magic of air travel.
"Living in the Age of Airplanes" shows how dependent we are on airplanes to bring us things from around the world and to take us places that for centuries would have been inaccessible.
As producer-director Brian J. Terwilliger told Jeremy Hobson, through air travel, we're doing things that explorers 100 years ago died trying to do, and that when looking out a plane window "you can see more in a single glance than most people saw in a lifetime."
The film is narrated by actor Harrison Ford, who Terwilliger said is "doing really well" after his plane crash last month.
"He's in very good spirits and very excited to get back out there, but he's laying low, resting up," he said.
