Foodie and author J. Ryan Stradal grew up in Lutheran-Church-Minnesota, and his memories of the Midwest have a lot to do with the casseroles and fruit bars he enjoyed as a kid.

His novel, “Kitchens Of The Great Midwest,” mines those memories, and takes readers on a culinary journey through the church bazars and bake offs of the American midlands. He speaks with Here & Now's Robin Young.
