Republican Sen. Rand Paul is pivoting attention from his failed bid for the White House to his re-election campaign in Kentucky, where he's facing Lexington Mayor Jim Gray.

An openly gay Democrat, Gray has been a leading figure in the state's business community for years. Both are attempting to win the state's coal vote.
