Turkish forces launched an offensive in northern Syria today to help Syrian rebels take a border town from ISIS.

The fighting in Syria comes ahead of what's expected to be an assault in Iraq on the ISIS-held town of Mosul. There are American troops on the ground in that part of Iraq.

Here & Now's Meghna Chakrabarti speaks with BuzzFeed's Mike Giglio, who has been on the front lines and says these troops are more involved in the actual combat that U.S. officials have portrayed.
