The FBI's investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server uncovered almost 15,000 emails and documents from her time as secretary of state that had not yet been turned over to the State Department.

On Monday, a federal judge pressed the Department to start releasing the documents sooner than the planned mid-October release date.

Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson talks with NPR's Ron Elving about the timeline of the email controversy, and what this week’s news may mean with the first presidential debate less than a month away.
