Many areas of Colorado are on high alert for avalanches today and tomorrow. Rapid temperature swings and a mix of rain and snow have made the snowpack volatile, causing slides, some of which have temporarily closed major highways in the state.

Scott Toepfer, forecaster for the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, joins Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson to assess the risk this week and the rest of the season.

This segment aired on January 11, 2017.
