Flint Water Deal To Pay $87 Million To Replace Pipelines

A proposed agreement will require the state of Michigan to replace up to 18,000 lead and galvanized water pipes in the city of Flint. This comes after a coalition of advocacy groups and citizens sued state and city officials, arguing they violated the federal Safe Drinking Water Act after Flint water was found to be contaminated with lead.

Harold Harrington is with Local 370 of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters. He tells Here & Now’s Robin Young what it will take to replace the pipes.
