The 2017 U.S. Open golf championship is underway at the Erin Hills golf course near Milwaukee. And for a man who helped design the course, having the Open come to Erin Hills is a dream come true.

Ron Whitten took an unusual route to becoming a golf course architect. Greg Echlin from Here & Now contributor KCUR has his story.
