California To Allow Self-Driving Cars To Operate Without Safety Driver

California's Department of Motor Vehicles said Monday it will eliminate a requirement for self-driving vehicles to have a person behind the wheel in the event of an emergency. Companies testing self-driving cars will be able to operate under the new rules as soon as April.
