Late last month, the Vancouver Energy company canceled its lease with the Port of Vancouver, Washington, putting an end to plans to build an oil terminal along the banks of the Columbia River. The move came after Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said no to the massive project. But Inslee didn't reach his decision in a vacuum.

Oregon Public Broadcasting's Molly Solomon (@solomonout) looks back on how a wave of grassroots opposition managed to take on big oil — and win.

This segment aired on March 26, 2018.
