In the weeks and months after Hurricane Maria, an estimated 179,000 people fled Puerto Rico. The island was already suffering a massive exodus due to an economic crisis that some call the island's Great Depression.

But as WBUR's Simón Ríos (@simonfrios) reports, many on the island refuse to leave their homeland.
