WBUR's iLab Presents "Listen Up" at Laugh Boston!

BOSTON, March 27, 2018 – From Modern Love with The New York Times to a new podcast in collaboration with Reddit, Endless Thread, the WBUR iLab is leading the way in creating dynamic and engrossing audio stories—and fans can now experience it all live and in person at Laugh Boston.

Beginning in April, the WBUR iLab will bring its hit podcasts to the stage at Boston's premier comedy club. The limited series, “Listen Up” at Laugh Boston, will spotlight five podcasts produced by the WBUR iLab, including:

Monday, April 2 at 8 p.m. | Modern Love: The Podcast

Three Boston-based professional actors will perform Modern Love essays with sound designer Matt Reed mixing live on stage. Host Meghna Chakrabarti will moderate a panel featuring New York Times Modern Love editor Daniel Jones, producer Caitlin O’Keefe and sound designer John Perotti. They will share insights about making the podcast and answer audience questions about the stories behind the column and the audio. Celebrity readers who’ve performed essays for Modern Love: The Podcast since its debut range from Kate Winslet and Colin Farrell to America Ferrera and Judd Apatow. Tickets on sale now.

Monday, May 7 at 8 p.m. | Endless Thread

Host Ben Brock Johnson (former host of Marketplace Tech and the Codebreaker podcast) and Producer Amory Sivertson (Modern Love: The Podcast and Dear Sugars) share a selection of audio and talk about their work bringing listeners on an unexpected journey, telling redditors’ fascinating stories each week. Endless Thread delves into Reddit’s boundless communities to explore some of the most compelling stories the internet has to offer, including revelations about our shared human experience and powerful, personal stories. Also, cat videos. This is a show for Reddit connoisseurs, skeptics, and the rest of us - new episodes drop every Friday.

Monday, June 4 at 8 p.m. | Kind World

Pivot from the daily news grind – stories that are often about tense or distressing events – and join WBUR to celebrate stories of heroism, hope and inspiration at a special Kind World listening session. The acclaimed audio series tells intimate stories about people whose lives have been changed for the better by someone else. Kind World stories can be heard as a podcast and on WBUR’s Morning Edition.

Sunday, July 8 at 3 p.m. | Circle Round – ALL AGES SHOW!

Circle Round is a brand-new children’s storytelling podcast that features carefully-selected folktales from around the world that are adapted for today’s audience. The series gives children ages 3-10 and their caregivers the opportunity to connect over timeless stories that delve into important topics such as kindness, perspective, persistence and generosity. Bring your children to hear a Circle Round story performed live and interact with the storytellers at this performance for the whole family led by Host Rebecca Sheir with music and sound design from composer Eric Shimelonis.

Monday, September 10 at 8 p.m. | Last Seen (sneak preview)

Be among the first to hear, see and learn about the top-secret new podcast in production at WBUR at this special sneak preview event with the producers and hosts creating the content.
