On Point Internship

Applications due by November 21, 2017.

On Point is where divergent voices come together. It is a fast-paced live radio show that probes the conversations and topics that matter most to the nation. We ask tough questions, work hard and seek out guests from all across the spectrum.

Overview: We’re looking for two interns to join our team for the spring. You’ll be treated like a real journalist from day one. You won’t be getting coffee for the staff. You’ll play a vital role in getting the show to air by finding the perfect soundbites, monitoring online comments, researching show topics, finding facts and pitching story ideas. At the end of your internship, we’ll help you produce your own hour for broadcast.

Requirements: You must be currently enrolled in a degree program or have graduated from college within the last year.  You should also be focused, unflappable, detail-oriented, quick, and passionate about news and current events. If you listen to podcasts non-stop, read all the day’s headlines and don’t mind watching C-Span, this internship is perfect for you. Previous newsroom experience is a plus. So is audio editing experience but don’t worry – if you don’t know how to use editing software like Adobe Audition, we’ll teach you.

If you'd like to join our team, send us your resume, cover letter and any samples of or links to your previous work to be considered for this position. In the cover letter, tell us how you could make our show better. Tell us why you want to work with us, and why we want to work with you.

There are two available internships:
Monday-Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
OR
Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Start day is flexible, but early January is typical. The internship will run the course of the spring semester.
