John Davidow

News Director/Managing Editor

John Davidow joined WBUR in April 2003 after spending over two decades as a journalist in Boston. His broadcast career began in 1981 at WCVB-TV, Boston's ABC affiliate. In his seventeen years as an award winning producer at WCVB, John covered major local, national and international news. As the station's Senior Special Projects Producer John covered national presidential campaigns, investigations into international adoption in Central America, trade issues in Asia and the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill. He also covered the world of international terrorism, traveling to the Middle East several times. In 1990, John became Executive Producer of News, overseeing coverage of WCVB's major newscasts.

In 1998, John became Assistant News Director at WBZ-TV, Boston's CBS owned and operated television station. While at WBZ, John witnessed first-hand the challenges the newsroom faced
after the 9/11 attacks which originated at Boston's Logan Airport. During John's tenure at WBZ, the station was recognized with the Radio and Television News Directors Association's Edward R. Murrow Award for Outstanding News Station of the Year. The award recognized the work of the WBZ newsroom in its coverage of the John F. Kennedy, Jr. plane crash and the Worcester Cold Storage fire.

John's work has been recognized with regional awards from the RTNDA, the Associated Press, and the UPI. He has also been the recipient of a number of regional Emmy Awards. John graduated cum laude from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics.
