Mark Kroll reviews classical music for WBUR Online Arts. Kroll has had a multi-faced career as a performer, writer and teacher. Recognized as one of the world's leading harpsichordists and forte pianists for over three decades, he has performed and recorded on four continents, winning critical praise for his expressive playing and virtuosity. As an author, he has contributed to both scholarly publications and general-readership magazines, recently published two books ("The Beethoven Violin Sonatas" and "Playing the Harpsichord Expressively"), and is currently writing a biography of Johann Nepomuk Hummel. A noted educator, Kroll is Professor Emeritus at Boston University, where he served for 25 years as Professor and Chair of the Department of Historical Performance.
