Weekend Edition Saturday

Since joining NPR in 1977, Peabody Award-winning Scott Simon has reported from all 50 states, Central America, Africa, India, the Middle East and the Caribbean. On leave from NPRs Weekend Edition Saturday in 1999, Simon covered the war in Kosovo, and has also reported from conflicts in Sarajevo, Cuba and Ethiopia. Raised in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Montreal, Cleveland, and Washington, D.C., Simon attended the University of Chicago and McGill University. His well-traveled perspective in reporting has been recognized by several awards, including the Major Armstrong Award in 1979 and the a George Foster Peabody Award for his radio essays in 1989.
