A former FBI agent widely recognized as a whistleblower who tried to stop the deal between convicted mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger and the FBI has pleaded guilty to lying at Bulger's trial.

Former Agent Robert Fitzpatrick now acknowledges making false claims about the FBI and himself.

WBUR's David Boeri reports on Fitzpatrick's guilty plea entered Monday in Boston federal court.
