A Report Card on Our Environment

About a year ago, Gov. Mitt Romney unveiled his "Climate Protection Plan" for Massachusetts. It introduced new policies aimed at curbing greenhouse emissions, and followed the state's commitment to a global warming initiative in 2001 by the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.

Today, the "2005 Report Card on Climate Change Action" will judge how far they've lived up to those commitments. The report will be released later this morning.

For an advance look at the findings, we turn to Jed Thorp, the energy campaign organizer for Clean Water Action. The Boston-based organization is one of several environmental groups that has produced today's report.

This program aired on August 23, 2005. The audio for this program is not available.
