Boston, MA - November 17, 2005 - In the last of a four-part series on the achievement gap and race, Bob Oakes talks to a teacher who has been at the forefront of bringing the problems of the achievement gap to the attention of the Boston Public School system. Steven Fernandes is a Physics teacher at the John D. O'Bryant School in Boston.
Oakes also speaks with Harvard sociologist John Diamond, whose research focuses on how race and ethnicity intersect with school practices.
