Part of the I-90 Connector to Re-Open

Good news for people traveling to Logan Airport in the next few days, as a part of a key big dig tunnel gains federal approval to re-open.

Governor Mitt Romney has announced one lane of the eastbound I-90 connector will open Friday night at 9pm. Temporary shoring towers were installed to hold up defective ceiling tiles and federal inspectors have signed off on the work.

The lane reopening will allow drivers to go from the Massachusetts Turnpike to Logan Airport via the Ted Williams Tunnel. The I-90 connector has been closed since a woman was killed when ceiling panels collapsed July 10th. Work continues t repair the tunnels. Governor Romney said the ceiling repair work will include upgrades to handle earthquakes.
