Plane Evacuated at Logan

Passengers were evacuated by emergency chutes from an aircraft at Boston's Logan Airport this morning because of a smoke condition.

Massport spokesman Phil Orlandella says Delta flight 1908 from LaGuardia Airport in New York landed shortly before 7:30 a-m and was taxiing to the terminal when there was a smell of smoke in the cockpit and cabin.

There were 40 passengers and five crew-members on the plane. Orlandella says one person may have sustained hip and leg injuries during the evacuation, and another person may have had a back injury.

Orlandella says the plane did NOT make an emergency landing and the smoke was not noticed until after the aircraft, an M-D-80, was on the ground. (AP)
