Woman Charged in Liposuction Death Deported

A woman charged with contributing to the death of a Framigham woman has been deported to Brazil and will not stand trial.

Ana Celia Pena Sielemenn is accused of allowing a Brazilian doctor and his wife to conduct an illegal liposuction surgery in her condominium basement. The surgery resulted in the death of twenty-four year old, Fabiola DePaula.

DePaula's friends and family say they're upset that Sielemenn will not stand trial and are concerned the doctor's wife, Maria Miranda Ribeiro, will also evade prosecution. Ribeiro is currently in the custody of immigration officials and may also be deported.

This program aired on October 3, 2006. The audio for this program is not available.
