Globe To Tie Wages to Revenues?

The Boston Globe is in another squeeze. Shrinking circulation and declining ad revenue have already led to staff cuts and employee buy-outs this year. Now, Globe management is asking staff, for the first time, to agree to a contract that would tie their wages to the paper's revenues.

The Boston Newspaper Guild, the union that represents almost a thousand reporters, columnists, and other Globe employees, is voting on the proposed agreement today. WBUR's Martha Bebinger has more on the story.

This program aired on October 18, 2006. The audio for this program is not available.
