Romney Says Highway Chief Mistaken

Governor Mitt Romney says his transportation secretary made a mistake by hiring big dig project manager Bechtel Parsons/Brinckerhoff to repair the three big dig tunnels that were closed after this summer's fatal tunnel ceiling panel collapse.

Romney says he understands how Secretary John Cogliano could have made the error, given the fact that there was so much pressure to get the tunnels re-opened.

Romeny says Cogliano acknowledges his mistake and has removed the Bechtel engineers from the project. However, Romney says Bechtel should continue to work on completing the big dig because it is legally contracted to finish the project, but not work on the repairs. He has no plans to fire Cogliano.
