Commentary: Rooting For Gooden
Today, Dwight Gooden will be released from jail in Florida where he's served seven months for violating parole by using cocaine. Gooden began his career in 1984 and became one of the most dominant pitchers that decade.
But his career slumped, mainly because of drug abuse, and in 1994 Gooden was suspended from baseball. Several years later, he came back to play for the Yankees, the Indians, and other teams before retiring in 2000.
Among those still rooting for Dwight Gooden is WBUR'S sports commentator Bill Littlefield.
This program aired on November 9, 2006. The audio for this program is not available.
