Medicare Part D, Part Deux

Seniors are getting another chance to sign up for "Medicare Part D" or to change their existing plans in the federal government's prescription drug program.

Some premium costs have jumped dramatically since the initial enrollment in May this year and those who were eligible to join then, but didn't, will face an add-on premium fee if they sign up now. The current enrollment period started yesterday and runs through December 31st.

WBUR's Health and Science reporter Allan Coukell joins Morning Edition host Bob Oakes to help make sense of it all.

This program aired on November 16, 2006. The audio for this program is not available.
