Heated Debate Over Outdoor Furnaces

Time to get out your winter gear. Temperatures are forecast to turn cold tonight and hover around 50 degrees well into next week. Looks like winter is on its way and with it, high home heating bills.

To keep costs down, a growing number of people in Massachusetts are turning to an old-fashioned fuel: wood. But they're burning it a new way, using an outdoor wood furnace. In a growing number of towns, the furnaces are also heating up a controversy over the pollution they churn out. WBUR's Meghna Chakrabarti reports.
