Boston Harbor Pilots Navigate Change

The home of one of Boston Harbor's oldest businesses is scheduled for demolition today. The Boston Pilots Association has been around for a century or so, headquartered in east Boston since the 1970s. Now the pilots have to relocate for a few years, while their building is razed then ultimately replaced with a new complex that will include, not just the pilots but also luxury condos, restaurants and stores.

The temporary move is part of a push to develop Boston's waterfront. Here's WBUR's Nina Mitchell with more on the harbor pilots' story.

This program aired on December 18, 2006. The audio for this program is not available.
