By Monica Brady-Myerov

Listen to story (Real Audio)

WALTHAM, Mass. - November 22, 2006 - As families gather for Thanksgiving tomorrow, there'll empty chairs at some tables in Massachusetts. About 850 Bay State members of the National Guard are currently serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kosovo.

Earlier this year, we visited one family in Waltham, as they adjusted to the deployment. Today, on the eve of the season's first holiday, we return, to see how they're coping.
