Inauguration Day

According to the Massachusetts state constitution, the term of the governor begins at noon on the Thursday following the first Wednesday in January. For Governor-elect Deval Patrick, that day is today.

At noon, Patrick will become the Commonwealth's 71st governor. Immediately, he'll face the challenge of translating campaign promises into policy at a time of projected budget deficits.

Joining WBUR's Bob Oakes for a preview of today's inauguration ceremony and the hurdles Patrick faces out of the gates are our political analysts, Republican Jim Nuzzo, and Democrat Dan Payne.

This program aired on January 4, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
