Patrick Replaces Chief of Staff

Governor Deval Patrick is replacing his chief of staff with a senior advisor from his gubernatorial campaign.

Doug Rubin is a veteran to the statehouse, having served as deputy treasurer under former State Treasurer Timothy Cahill.

Rubin left Cahill's office in 2005 to join the Patrick campaign.

Rubin is replacing Joan Wallace-Benjamin, who is leaving Patrick's administration to resume her post as President and Chief Executive Officer of the non-profit group Home for Little Wanderers.

The change is the latest in a number of moves designed to bring people with more political experience into Patrick's inner circle.

Aides within the Patrick administration say Rubin is coming back to bring campaign-style strategies to the governor's office.
