Marathon Woman

One runner who's hoping to make it through the rain and sleet is American Deena Kastor, who was born in Waltham. She's already won the Chicago and London marathons and the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. But this is her first time ever running the Boston marathon.

It's been 24 years since any American, man or woman, has won the Open Division in Boston, but this year, Kastor hopes to end that losing streak. WBUR's Karen Given has her story.

This program aired on April 16, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
