Gov's Task Force to Review UMass

Governor Deval Patrick says his newly created education task force will take over the review of the UMass system.

The governor says his task force will not interfere with UMass President Jack Wilson's authority to make personnel decisions.

Wilson proposed shuffling leadership roles last month at three of the school's five campuses, including removing UMass-Amherst Chancellor John Lombardi as part of a wider plan to reorganize the system.

Wilson had wanted his own task force to study ways the five campuses can collaborate.
