Is the Big Dig Safe Now?

One year ago next week, a concrete panel fell from the ceiling of a Big Dig tunnel, killing a Jamaica Plain woman. Milena del Valle was driving to Logan airport with her husband at the time.

After her death, the Romney administration promised an "exhaustive" inspection of the entire Central Artery Project.

The state is still fixing problems found in the first week after the collapse. And, as WBUR's Shannon Mullen reports, engineers expect to find more as they expand their review this month, beyond the Big Dig to the rest of the Metropolitan Highway System.

This program aired on July 6, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
