Anchor Away

After 35 years in local television news, Natalie Jacobson is stepping down. Tonight, she'll sign off for the last time as anchor of the evening newscast at WCVB Channel 5.

Jacobson joined the station as a reporter in 1972 just before it went to air. Over time, she not only reported the news, she also made the news: In 1976, Jacobson became the first woman to anchor a TV evening newscast in Boston.

She joins WBUR's Bob Oakes to talk about her long, distinguished career in local TV news.

This program aired on July 18, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
