Pricey Pad Poised for Purchase

The real estate market may be slowing down, but what's believed to be the most expensive house in greater Boston has been sold. WBUR'S Bianca Vazquez Toness reports.

TEXT OF STORY

SAUL COHEN: It's a large brick Georgian house, in superb condition, on a large piece of land in a choice neighborhood.

BIANCA VAZQUEZ TONESS: Real estate agent Saul Cohen is talking about the Brookline house put on the market by construction magnate Frank McCourt.

McCourt listed the property for $22 million when he bought the Los Angeles Dodgers and moved to California. Cohen won't disclose the sale price but says the closing will be in the next day or two.

Real estate veteran Chobee Hoy was not involved in the deal but says it would likely be one of the biggest in the Boston area.

CHOBEE HOY: It means that Brookline, in terms of holding value, if this is any indication, we're in good shape.

VAZQUEZ TONESS: The real estate agents say sales in Brookline, Newton, Weston and Wellesley are up considerably over the last year, bucking the slowdown in the rest of the country.

For WBUR, I'm Bianca Vazquez Toness.
