Summer Postcard: The Birders of Plum Island

Fall is officially here. At least it is for shorebirds beginning their annual southern migration. The Plum Island estuary in Newburyport is a prime place to spot these long-distance flyers. It's a mecca for birds and birders thanks to the variety of habitats, including salt marshes, forests, beaches and mud flats. In the last of our series of summer postcards, we visit Plum Island with the birders.
