Mixed Results for MCAS

The Massachusetts Department of Education yesterday released MCAS results for this past spring.

Elementary and middle school students showed the biggest improvements, after two years of flat or declining scores.

Statewide figures also show more 10th graders than ever before passed the English and math portions of the exam on their first try.

However, as WBUR's Shannon Mullen reports, minority students and those with limited English proficiency are still lagging behind their white counterparts.

This program aired on September 13, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
