Mass MoCA to Dismantle Display

The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art says it will dismantle an unfinished display that's at the heart of a tense, ten-month legal battle.

Mass MoCA in North Adams won a court case last week to show the incomplete work "Training Ground For Democracy" by Swiss artist Christoph Buchel.

The museum's Director Joseph Thompson tells WBUR that both artists and museums have responsibilities they need to meet, "One of the consequences, in this case, of an artist that did not fully enter into the understanding that we had, is that the public doesn't get to see what could have been a very compelling piece of work."

The clash with Buchel became public in December after the museum refused to extend his budget for the installation piece.
