Review: "Sweeney Todd"

"Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street" has been given something of a trim. The 1979 Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical with Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou, had a huge cast and orchestra.

The new version, in which ten actors play all the parts — and all the instruments — won two Tony Awards in 2006.

It has just opened at the Colonial Theatre in Boston, where "Morning Edition" critic at large Ed Siegel caught the show.

This program aired on October 26, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
