Pleasure And Pain Of 'Hell Night'

When a waitress dressed as a devil delivers a dish that makes your eyes water and your nose run, you know you're at "Hell Night."

The East Coast Grill launched this culinary extravaganza as an annual event 15 years ago. Now, it's so popular that the Cambridge restaurant is packed for "Hotter Than Hell" nights three times a year for three nights in a row.

This Halloween week, WBUR's Bob Oakes decided to do something really scary: test his taste buds and intestinal fortitude. Recovering between bites, he talked with the East Coast Grill chef and owner Chris Schlesinger.

This program aired on October 31, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
