Remembering Albert 'Dapper' O'Neil
Longtime Boston city councilor Albert "Dapper'' O'Neil has died at age 87 at a West Roxbury nursing home.
City Councilor Steve Murphy said O'Neil died overnight. He told the Boston Herald that O'Neil was legally blind and couldn't move around much, but his spirits remained high.
O'Neil was a 14-term city councilor known for his gruffness and lack of political correctness.
O'Neil was first elected in 1970, and made his mark with loud opposition to forced desegregation of Boston school's through busing.
